TODAY, UP TO 811 MILLION PEOPLE ARE HUNGRY IN THE WORLD.
The people most affected are children and women, and more particularly peasants and small agricultural producers. Women, victims of inequalities in some countries, do not have access to food or sufficient resources to meet their hunger.
Children have a weaker immune system and are therefore very vulnerable.
Today in many countries hunger is used as a weapon of war. Starving populations, poisoning wells, burning fields, these practices are now tactics used to enslave populations.
To combat this we supported Resolution 2417 which punishes the use of hunger as a weapon of war.
Conflits canarise from unequal access to resources but also from population mouvements caused by other conflicts, poverty and even climate change.
